Tell them
they were born
to be leaders

and not the tails

the chasers
of someone else's dreams
or losers
when they fail
As soon as they are old enough
to understand
we run then away from home
telling them to do their best
for the praise of others
Placing them
in competitions
with others who would not matter
down the line
We push them
to excel
where they will not rule...
and tell them
that all rulers are crooked
What are they supposed to learn
They will never know they are meant to be kings
leaders of their own kingdoms
While we teach them to please others
we should be teaching them
to please themselves
impress those
in their own world
Tell them
that charity begins
at home
Don't stop until you succeed
Don't let them get lost
in pleasing others
when it's their own inner voices
that they should learn
to heed
When they get jobs,
and they are still not happy
teach them to hang in there
until something better comes along
The way we can get boys
to be good men
is to get them back to their place
is to teach them
to be proud of themselves
Teach them
to be proud of their kingdom
Teach them what a father does...
Teach them what a mother is
what she deserves
Teach them to make the sacrifices
for their own first.
Teach them that praise is to be given
to God first
Kids eyes have always
shown hope
